Within HARP (Business Processes Harmonization), the IST phase has been completed. During this phase, the program team got a good picture of the current situation of the business management processes. The organization is now entering the next phase, the SOLL phase. For each workflow, the team will arrive at a design of the desired situation.
Fontys is facing a challenging period. Declining student numbers require us to balance staffing levels, a message emphasised by Joep Houterman during the New Year’s gathering on 6 January. While measures have already been taken to encourage natural attrition, additional steps are necessary for Fontys. What does this mean for staff? Young people with mental health issues: it’s a topic that’s gaining more and more attention. There is now clearly more awareness of mental health issues among young people. Students often feel pressure from social media, performance demands, and the potential financial penalties for studying longer than expected. Fontys has strengthened its efforts in the area of student well-being, of course, in consultation with students, staff, and other experts.
Many international students would like to stay in the Netherlands after their studies. Yet they often leave for their home countries because they cannot find a suitable job. This is remarkable, because the demand for highly educated workers is high. The European research project INTERLOCALITY, in which Fontys is participating, aims to change this.
