    Young people with mental health issues: it’s a topic that’s gaining more and more attention. There is now clearly more awareness of mental health issues among young people. Students often feel pressure from social media, performance demands, and the potential financial penalties for studying longer than expected. Fontys has strengthened its efforts in the area of student well-being, of course, in consultation with students, staff, and other experts.

    Many international students would like to stay in the Netherlands after their studies. Yet they often leave for their home countries because they cannot find a suitable job. This is remarkable, because the demand for highly educated workers is high. The European research project INTERLOCALITY, in which Fontys is participating, aims to change this.

These are collective measures (applicable to all universities of applied sciences) regarding language proficiency, recruitment, housing, retention rates, and programs delivered in languages other than Dutch.
