The summer is over, the lectures have started again. Would you like to make a good start and enter the new academic year fit and healthy? Fontys is organiseing the Vitality Week from 19 to 24 September, and this year's theme is: Let's Connect.
The theme of the vitality week is 'Let's connect' and that is not without reason. During the lockdowns, we lost sight of each other a bit. Moreover, many found out that working from home also has its advantages. It is comfortable. The consequence is that staff and students come to the locations less often, which is at the expense of connecting with each other.
Vitality Week kills two birds with one stone. On the one hand, the programme provides ideas for eating healthier or exercising more. On the other hand, the activities provide contact and shared experiences. This way, you will notice (again) how nice it is to be connected with your colleagues or fellow students, and that it is worthwhile to come to the Fontys locations.
Feeling good
Anyone who is fit and feels good about themselves, will study better and produce better work. This is why Fontys pays a great deal of attention to the welfare of students and staff. Research has shown that well-being is closely related to the feeling of connection with fellow employees or students. That is why connection is an important theme that will receive continuous attention, starting with this Vitality Week.
Why a vitality week? Fontys is all about people: students and employees are Fontys' greatest capital. That is why vitality has been labelled a spearhead of policy. The vitality week offers a diverse programme of activities for both students and employees. The activities take place in Eindhoven and Tilburg. Too far away? Don't worry: there are also activities that you cannot attend live but which are streamed.
Star chef Jermaine de Rozario
A selection of the activities. Lecturer-researcher Dennis Arts opens the vitality week with a live stream – ‘Wellness & Nietes’ - and gives you tips for your own vitality. There are live streams on energy management and exercise for your brain. Star chef Jermaine de Rozario will cook and share two vegetarian recipes specially developed for Fontys.
There is a silent disco where you can dance to the music of your choice. By climbing on a smoothie bike you can make your own smoothie (banana, strawberry and yoghurt), which you can of course drink yourself. Back or neck problems? Then report to the physiotherapy students; they provide chair massages. Prefer to go for a walk? Students of Fontys Sporthogeschool provide a work walk. Want to know how fit you are? Do the health check.
Every day there are activities that you can participate in with your colleagues or fellow students. All activities are free of charge. So: is it time to make your lifestyle a bit healthier (again)? Then start at the Fontys Vitality Week.
